Experience sustainability in a very personal way and let the most special national park of the Netherlands be an example for your own organisation.
At this special ELP Leadership Dinner, you will experience sustainability at De Hoge Veluwe National Park. First, a ranger will guide us away from the beaten path into the hidden treasures of the park on a two-hour foot safari. Then, Seger baron Van Voorst tot Voorst, managing director of the park, will explain how De Hoge Veluwe contributes to sustainability. Building on his introduction, we will engage in Roundtable dialogues about your own experiences with and goals for building a sustainable organisation. We will conclude the evening with a plenary dialogue. The Jachthuis Sint Hubertus is a unique location which is not open to the public.
Multiple global crises are looming but the Cultural Creatives bring hope.
Multiple crises are looming: global warming, fish depletion, water shortages, environmental degradation, to name just a few. But there is hope, says Jim Garrison, president and founder of the Wisdom University. Hope comes from the Cultural Creatives who, for the first time since the Renaissance will introduce a whole new value system to society. Cultural Creatives are both inner-directed (they care about their personal development) and socially concerned (civil rights, the environment, women's rights, peace and organic food amongst other things). They embrace technology and economic development but only within a deep affirmation of the environment and community. This group emerged in the late 60s and has grown to 30% of the population in most industrialized countries. The key question is how to turn this emerging group into an effective economic and political presence.
A second Renaissance is brewing. In leadership we even see a paradigm shift. So much the better because strong leadership, from individuals and organisations, is needed to solve global crises.
As always, the Conference will be a mix of thought-provoking plenary introductions and moderated Roundtable dialogues. Three extraordinary speakers will challenge your thinking.
Jim Garrison is president of Wisdom University and of the Gorbachev Foundation/USA. He will speak about the global emergence of Cultural Creatives and their contribution to the solution of world crises. Jim Garrison says 'this is the first time since the Renaissance that a new value system has arisen in Western civilization
Jeremy Black is Professor of History at the University of Exeter. He will talk about the rise and fall of great powers through the ages and the lessons executives can learn from the dynamics of change in world history.
Francine Houben of Mecanoo is one of the few female architects to have reached an international position of eminence. Being herself a Cultural Creative, she will talk about the philosophy behind her designs.

We are evolving from a pyramid world to a flat world. The main trendwatcher from Philips will guide you into the future.
We are in the middle of a sharp transformation of society. A new world is emerging that we are only beginning to understand. We are going from mass consumption to mass co-creation, from quantity to quality, from wealth to wellbeing. The relation between people and technology will change massively as will the economic infrastructure. Traditional industries will be dwarfed by health, education and wellbeing. In her introduction Josephine Green will take you into that future. In the Roundtables you will engage in a dialogue about how prepared your organisation is for the future. Josephine Green is Senior Director of Trends and Strategy at Philips Design.
A look at 20th century Europe through the eyes of a gifted film maker
Look at Europe through the eyes of Roel van Broekhoven, director and editor of the television series ‘In Europa’. He will show his favourite film fragments from the series, depicting a lively image of the development of our continent in the 20th century. The series, shown over two seasons, is based upon Geert Mak's famous book of the same name. Participants will share the impact the films have on them in moderated Roundtables.
Take a deep look into China’s future.
We know China as either a production location or a market, or both. If we look beyond strict business, what will happen to China in the long run? Will China develop its own model of capitalism without democracy? How will the power of the Communist Party develop? What will be the role of the middle class? Which role will China play in world politics and its institutions? Antoine van Agtmael will answer these questions and many more. He is Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Emerging Markets Management, an investment advisory firm in the US. He is widely considered a pioneer in emerging markets investing, having coined the term ‘emerging markets’ to replace the negative connotation of Third World. Mr. van Agtmael has served as Division Chief in the World Bank’s Treasury operations and as Deputy Director of the Capital Markets Department at the International Finance Corporation. He is the author of ‘The Emerging Markets Century: How a New Breed of World-Class Companies Is Overtaking the World’.
