Conference speaker in the news
Architect Francine Houben, one of the three speakers at our Annual Conference, has won a competition to design Europe's largest and most visited library, defeating such renowned competitors as sir Norman Foster and Rem Koolhaas. Awarded by the Birmingham City Council, the building will be 'the social heart' of Birmingham (UK) and will be built in combination with the Birmingham Repertory Theatre for a total cost of €250mln. Francine Houben said she wants to design a 'people's palace', an 'unforgettable public space'. Francine's philosophy of incorporating nature, emotion and creativity in her architectural designs epitomizes the vision of futurists who believe we are on the verge of a fundamental value shift, a renaissance. Her philosophy and designs will be divulged at The Renaissance of Leadership on 19 September.
