ELP online community Leadership for a Better World

Type: Cluster meeting
Speaker(s): Jean-Francois Manzoni
Date / Time: 17 March 2021 17:00 : 18:30
Venue: Online

How do you want to contribute to a better world from your professional context? That is the key question in this online community, which is running in eight sessions from October 2020 until June 2021. Each session starts with a thought-provoking speaker, followed by moderated breakouts, and runs from 17:00 until 18:30. ELP wants to support leaders to take a step back and make sense of the world we are living in. They are invited to engage into meaningful dialogues that go beyond the transactional exchanges of a normal day at work, especially now everybody is working from home.

The program is as follows:

17:00 Plenary opening. Setting the tone.

17:05 Jean-Francois Manzoni is interviewed by Twan van de Kerkhof. Jean-François Manzoni is the President of IMD, an internationally acclaimed business school, based in Lausanne, Switzerland. His research, teaching, and consulting activities are focused on leadership, the development of high-performance organizations and corporate governance. At the organizational level, Professor Manzoni studies the content of change, the management of the change process and the role of leaders therein. At the individual level, Professor Manzoni studies how leaders can create a high-performance work environment and what they can do to modify their leadership style in that direction. This stream of research has led to several articles and a book entitled The Set-Up to Fail Syndrome: How good managers cause great people to fail (with Jean-Louis Barsoux). On the corporate governance side, Professor Manzoni focuses on interpersonal dynamics within the Boardroom and between management and the Board.

17:25 Moderated breakouts in which participants share their personal insights and experiences

18:10 Plenary Q&A with Jean-Francois Manzoni
