European organizations are still trying to increase the diversity of their workforce, but in the US there is a DEI backlash: the American Supreme Court has ended 45 years of affirmative action in university admissions in June 2023 and DEI efforts are considered 'woke' by some. Diversity, equity, and inclusion refers to organizational frameworks which seek to promote the fair treatment and full participation of all people, particularly groups who have historically been underrepresented or subject to discrimination on the basis of identity or disability. In this online ELP Leadership Dialogue Christina van Zanten, Head of Talent Management & DEI at Rabobank, will explain how she is working on DEI and what she thinks the impact will be of changing sentiments in the US. Christina will be interviewed by Jan Alberdingk Thijm, one of the ELP Moderators. After this introduction participants will engage into moderated breakouts about DEI in their own context.
